Packard Butler

This is a Packard Butler Wallbox from the 40’s (between 1946-49, according to http://www.jukebox-world.de/Forum/Archiv/Packard/PackardButler.htm), made by “Packard Manufacturing Company“.
It has 24 selections and should be used with Jukebox : Packard Manhattan, Packard Pla-Mor, Hideaway 400 and Packard Musical Bar.

Main idea was to use it with external speakers, and use the PackardtoMP3 https://www.r2tronik.com/fr/wallbox2mp3/10-packard2mp3-system-0715235391266.html

What is neat with that model, is that no transformer is needed except the one for the card.

As there isn’t enough room inside to hide the card, decided to put it on the back.

I also wanted to create speaker boxes that would suit the design of the wallbox. Don’t want modern ugly boxes next to this beauty from the past.

So it started with a complete specimen :

 

And decided that something in the shape of “Art Deco” would be a good start to make speaker boxes.

Speakers came from a Sony home-cinema set I found on the sidewalk.
Can’t be worst than original Seeburg SC1 speakers.

After some wood working, boxes are taking shapes.

Top plate behind the wallbox will hold Volume rotary switch, On/Off Switch, Cancel button.

Wood is finished with a gray hammered paint.

Red paint as been made applying nail lacquer.

Original top button for reject coin is used to action the credit switch. I used the original one and move it inside so that it was activated by the internal mechanism.
